Joanna Polechronis Hopkins, a native of Westwood  currently lives in Reading Massachusetts. Joanna’s passion for the home started when her mother was a resident at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. For many years she visited the home and her mother, then in 2013 she decided to become a member of the Hellenic Women’s’ Benevolent Association. Joanna has decorated the Hellenic for the past decade. She brings a lot of love and happiness to the home. She has put smiles on the faces of  our residents, their families and visitors.

Joanna’s  commitment extends beyond beautification she served was HWBA’s  secretary and  later became the HWBA President from July 2019 – 2022. During her term as president,  she helped the board navigate the devastating Covid epidemic and was instrumental in raising funds  and tackling a myriad of much needed facility upgrades at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Joanna, previously worked for the U.S. Census Bureau where she  was the  Northeast Regional  Office Administrator.  Currently in addition to serving on the HWBA Board of Directors, she also serves in a variety of other organizations, including the Westwood High School scholarship board, The Westwood High School reunion committee and the Reading High School Scholarship board.

Joanna is a mother of three girls and a grandmother of four girls.  She feels a great passion for helping those in need and looks forward to continue to add to the legacy started by the Founders of the Hellenic Women’s Benevolent Association.
